“There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.” – Michelle Obama

March 8th is a day to celebrate women around the world. It’s an opportunity to bring awareness to the political, social, economic, and cultural achievements of women throughout history. In any workplace, diversity is essential to success. Women make up nearly half of the workforce, yet only 25% of all jobs in the tech industry are held by women. As a technology company with a true “people-first” approach, we use this day to showcase women that innovate, inspire, and change the world. In doing so, we aim to inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in technology.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we spoke to two strong women who have contributed towards tech and innovation at OnActuate about their experiences working in the tech industry.

Sunshita Ganjoo and Sayali Agashe are both functional consultants at OnActuate. Sunshita contributes to technology and innovation at OnActuate by keeping the business intact. This entails providing services to clients and on-time solutions while learning about products and building the consultant-to-customer relationship. Sayali exemplified innovation when she built up a Cashiering solution specifically for the Public Sector with various statutory requirements relating to fund accounting.

These women’s achievements go far past what they have practically done for OnActuate. Being a successful woman in tech is no easy feat. It takes strength, determination, and intelligence – all attributes that Sunshita and Sayali exemplify in their work. We asked both women what being a woman in tech means to them. Sunshita expressed that she is proud to see herself and the women she works with succeeding and being equally as accomplished as their peers. She states, “I am blessed to have this position and to be growing all together!” Sayali expresses that she is pleased to be able to hold a “challenging and dynamic role.”

About 30% of OnActuate’s culturally diverse workforce are women, we aim to work towards increasing that number. A dynamic workforce is one that innovates and includes diversity is important to us because our world is filled with people of all different backgrounds. In a global industry, the voices of all people need to be heard in order for cooperation to be efficient. We hope to inspire future generations of women to consider working in the tech industry. OnActuate values the diverse workforce we have created, but there is always room for improvement. The technology industry as a whole needs more women’s voices to be heard. At OnActuate, we hope to motivate future generations of women to consider working in the tech industry.

We asked Sunshita and Sayali what advice they would give to other women starting in the industry. Sunshita advises that women in tech should, “stand high and value the spirit of independence within yourself. Keep learning and keep growing in every situation!” Similarly, Sayali recommends that women should, “Be open to change and try to focus on building knowledge through learning.”

We hope that the stories of Sunshita and Sayali can resonate with women in the tech industry and motivate younger generations to pursue their dreams. Following is a list of resources for women, by women in technology.
